Fun Times Fishing in Auburn Hills!

On Saturday, June 8, 137 junior anglers and their families cast their lines in the waters of the Clinton River for the Auburn Hills Fishing Derby. The Fishing Derby is an annual event held at Riverside Park in conjunction with the Clinton River Watershed Council’s River Day. River Day provides a wonderful opportunity for people to enjoy and appreciate the beautiful Clinton River and the day was, indeed, a beautiful one!

Registration began at 7:30am, with fishing from 8-10am. Volunteers from Detroit Steelheaders the Clinton Valley Chapter of Trout Unlimited were on hand to register the participants and help them bait their hooks. After catch-and-release fishing concluded, a raffle was held in Knight Amphitheater. Council Members Dr. Shawanna Fletcher and Mr. Henry Knight, along with Mayor Pro-Tem Eugene Hawkins, handed out dozens of prizes including fishing poles, tackle boxes and gift certificates.

Sponsors for the event were Detroit Steeleaders, Clinton Valley Chapter of Trout Unlimited, Buffalo Wild Wings Foundation and Clinton River Watershed Council. With their support, the day was a big success!
