This morning I attended my weekly Optimist Club meeting at 7:30 a.m. Members are from all walks of life and the club exists to provide opportunities for youth of the community. Without going into significant detail, I invite you to learn more about the Optimist Club at www.optimist.org.
The great thing about the Optimist Club is that you can volunteer at all levels of participation. Of course, there is an expectation that you will participate. No organization really needs members who are simply looking to add something to their resume. But the great thing about what we do is that we have a very local impact, you don’t have to attend every Thursday morning meeting, and there are a variety of volunteer opportunities that do not require a significant time commitment. The club members are enthusiastic and committed to what they do; and no, you don’t have to learn any secret handshake.
New members are always welcome to join. If you are interested in an organization that helps to provide a better life for the kids of our community, this is for you. Members of all ages are welcome. College students or recent graduates who want to build a well-rounded career that includes service to community, should take a serious look at the Optimist Club here in Auburn Hills.
Anyone having an interest in joining, or perhaps just wants to be a guest at a meeting to see what we’re all about, can feel free to email me at email@example.com. I’d be happy to share a little more about the Optimist Club and invite you as a guest.
