Like us … buildings do not last forever.
This week, the City of Auburn Hills said goodbye to an iconic restaurant that held a special place in many people’s hearts. The Country Kitchen located at 2041 Auburn Road is now gone.

Old timers will tell you about when the restaurant was called “The Tom-A-Hawk” and how the Country Kitchen was a comfortable and welcoming place to get breakfast or lunch.

The Country Kitchen was an unapologetic “retro-50’s” truck stop diner. A place to meet friends and enjoy a solid homemade meal. The eatery served the public for well over a half century, but had to close in the summer of 2013 after severe flooding from the adjacent Clinton River made it cost prohibitive to renovate. There are no plans to build anything new at the site.
Farewell Country Kitchen, you served our community well.
