Each year, the Oakland University Alumni Association (OUAA) hosts its Alumni Awards Banquet, bringing together hundreds of Oakland University (OU) graduates to honor achievements in business, community service, volunteerism and more.
Last Friday night, Auburn Hills City Manager Tom Tanghe was honored with an award for his exceptional commitment to the University with the Alumni Community Service Award. He’s a regular volunteer at events such as Go For the Gold, commencement ceremonies, convocation and serves as an ambassador to the College of Arts and Sciences. He jokes that he’s on campus so often with events and meetings, that he should have an office on campus.

Tom’s vision and passion for OU had led to many successful partnerships between Auburn Hills and the University. As a fellow graduate of OU, it was a great honor and privilege for me to see my friend and colleague recognized for his hard work. He is the epitome of what it means to be a dedicated alumni.
Congrats Tom!
