Clinton River Clean-Up Volunteers: Thank You!

Posted by – Shawn Keenan, Assistant City Planner

On the cloudy and drizzly morning of Saturday, September 19th, a group of 14 volunteers made up of residents of Auburn Hills and Oakland Township as well as employees from local businesses, including OHM Advisors, scoured the banks of the Clinton River from River Woods Park to the City’s Skate Park and the two parklands in search of trash and debris.

This group of devoted volunteers, that included a 21 month old and 5-year-old, worked through the morning rain and removed fourteen bags of garbage and one inflatable raft that had seen better days. It is the extra effort from these volunteers who search through the thick brush for items washed up on shore or trash discarded by park goers that helps maintain our parks pristine appearance. In addition to improving the environment, the efforts undertaken by these dedicated volunteers go a long way in maintaining the beauty of our parks which benefits the entire community.
