And The Survey Says…

Survey-Small1

We continue reporting to you the results of our citizen survey.

Question:  Have you had contact with any of these City departments in the past 12 months, and if yes, how would you rate it/them?

The answers could include Very Satisfied, Satisfied, Uncertain, Dissatisfied or Very Dissatisfied.  It is reasonable to assume that those who answered “uncertain” did so because some departments have very limited direct regular public contact and the respondent has not interacted with that department.  We do not see the “uncertain” answer as a negative answer.     Continue reading “And The Survey Says…”

T-5 Days Until National Night Out

NNO16

In less than a week on Tuesday, August 2nd, The City of Auburn Hills will host a National Night Out celebration on its Auburn Hills City Campus. This year’s theme is all about protecting yourself and your family from identity theft.  Starting at 6:00 PM, come to the Community Center for delicious food, live entertainment, raffles, and you can get energized in the bounce house, too. New this year is our cool selfie station, come on by and post your best NNO smile on Facebook and Twitter using hashtag #NNO @ahpolice.

Building on the theme of identity theft, Shred Legal will be on campus with their industrial shredding truck. Stop by with any sensitive documents you no longer need to safely dispose of them with Shred Legal. Yes, an officer will be standing by for added security of your documents.

Please plan ahead!  August 2nd is also Michigan’s Primary Election and Auburn Hills’ residents will be voting on a Fire Millage.  Parking will be limited, but friendly officers and volunteers will be able to guide you in the right direction and get you pointed towards all of the fun that is National Night Out.

Setting the Stage for Survey Results

surveyLast week I informed you that we would begin to share survey results from our recently conducted citizen and business surveys conducted by the Public Affairs Research Laboratory (PARL) at Oakland University.  Today, I want to first provide a little information about the process and an introduction to the demographic characteristics of those who responded so that you can have a better sense of what you will read in the days and weeks ahead.  Continue reading “Setting the Stage for Survey Results”

You Just Saved A Life

blood-donation

On Thursday, July 7, the Senior Services Department hosted our Semi – Annual Blood Drive at the Community Center. I am sure that everyone has received an email, phone call or seen a TV advertisement about donating blood. There are individuals that go faithfully every 56 days to donate and they are great appreciated. But, what I really love is the NEW donors. Every time I ask someone new to donate, they always have an excuse. At our last blood drive, we had a brand new donor, one of our very own Auburn Hills City employees. Here is her story. Citizen and Business Survey Results

IMG_1511[2]

Over the past few months, the Public Affairs Research Laboratory at Oakland University conducted two surveys for the City of Auburn Hills.  One is a citizen survey and the other a survey of businesses.  On Monday evening, July 11, 2016, the City Council in a workshop, received the results of these two surveys.  First, I want to thank those staff and citizens who participated in developing the survey with Dr. Patrick Piskulich from OU.  It goes without saying that OU is a great resource located within our community.  But I would also like to thank those who took the time to complete and return the survey.  Certainly, it is easy to sit on the sidelines and be critical of your local government.  However, it is when you provide us feedback that allows us to consider changes that make us an even stronger and better community.  In addition to the tabulated survey results, we will begin to share with you, there were also dozens of pages of additional comments made by those who completed the survey.  Rest assured we will read every one of them, good or bad, and act upon them where possible and/or practical.   Continue reading “Citizen and Business Survey Results”
