The Future Workforce

Oakland County has 2,000 tech firms with 42,000 jobs in the tech field – more than twice the number of any other county in Michigan.  To assist these companies with hiring challenges, County Executive Brooks Patterson created the Tech248 Initiative.

Tech248 helps tech companies collaborate and attract, develop and retain talent while promoting Oakland County as a global technology hub.  Auburn Hills has been actively involved in this Oakland County initiative over the last two years.  There are four districts in Oakland County and each month one of the districts hosts a “MeetUp” event that showcases trends in technology and networking.  There is fierce competition for talent in this market, and these events allow employers and those seeking employment to connect.

Join us on Thursday, October 26th beginning at 9:00 am at Oakland Schools Technical Campus Northeast for the next MeetUp.  This event will feature the President of the Michigan Council of Women in Technology Foundation.  There will also be a tour of the facility offered. Students from the school will also be on hand to talk about their experiences with technology.
