Yesterday, it was announced that air-bag maker Takata Corp. was purchased and merged with Key Safety Systems as part of a $1.6 billion transaction to create a new company called Joyson Safety Systems. Joyson’s new regional headquarters for the Americas will now be located at 2500 Takata Drive in the City of Auburn Hills.
In addition, we wish to report that with the birth of this new company its associated street address is also proposed to experience a transformation.

After consulting with their neighbor, The HUB Stadium, representatives from Joyson have requested approval from the City Council to change the name of the public street (they both have vehicular access to) from Takata Drive to Innovation Hub.

This is not the first time this 1,200 foot long cul-de-sac road has seen a metamorphosis. It was previously known as Koppy Drive and 24 years ago the City Council authorized the re-naming to Takata Drive after formal request from the company.
Those interested in providing comment or learning more about this proposal are encouraged to attend the City Council meeting scheduled for Monday, May 7th at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chamber at City Hall.
