If you are like me, you get in your car and drive without giving it much thought.  I mean, how many times do we think about all the components that make up our vehicle and how they all work together to keep us safe during a significant event like a crash?

Recently, we met with Hirtenberger Automotive Safety and learned about the solutions they provide in the event of an automobile crash.  I learned there are passive safety systems like seatbelts and airbags and active safety systems like radar lane-detection systems and cameras.  Hirtenberger specializes in the latter.

Based in Austria, they specialize in developing and producing advanced pyrotechnic solutions for systems to protect pedestrians and occupants.  When I think about pyrotechnics, I usually think of fireworks, not the automotive industry.  Who knew that a tiny part, called a micro gas generator, could save your life?  Hirtenberger uses pyrotechnics and not a fuse because the reaction is instant.

We are so excited that Hirtenberger Automotive Safety is in Auburn Hills and we look forward to watching them grow and succeed.
