Even though Martinrea International, Inc. has been in their building at 2100 N. Opdyke Road for a few months, yesterday’s ceremonial welcome further solidified the City of Auburn Hills as their new home. Their state-of-the-art 108,000 square foot facility combines research and development, engineering, and testing capabilities under one roof in an open and collaborative environment.
It’s hard to believe that just five years ago there used to be an old vacant Showcase Cinema that sat right at this location. A lot has changed in this area in a relatively short amount of time. First, we saw the development of GKN Driveline North America And now, Martinrea. Both projects were built by Dembs Development, led by Ryan Dembs and his team.
Martinrea’s new technical center even has a slide that connects the first and second floors of the building. Mayor McDaniel and several City Council members tried it out!
The celebration included a tour and demonstrations from a local robotics team. It was such an exciting celebration – we heard from Governor Snyder, Lt. Governor Calley, and County Executive Patterson about how companies like Martinrea are an integral part of Michigan’s comeback.
We wish Martinrea much success in the future!
