For almost 10 years now, local Auburn Hills resident and firefighter, Brent Waldrep has dazzled us with his remarkable light show display at his home on 3111 Paramount Lane.
Waldrep’s passion for extravagant light displays came as a past time he used to share with his father. Years down the road, and now with a family of his own, Brent’s passion has grown to what is now known as “Our Dancing Lights.” With 10 different controllers scattered around his yard, a 40-foot light tree, and too many lights to count, Our Dancing Lights is completely choreographed to music. Spectators who come to enjoy the show can hear the music on FM 91.3 while watching the lights.
Waldrep has been a firefighter with the City for eight years and more recently, works in customer service for Domino’s Pizza headquarters. Waldrep explained that his love of the brotherhood and comradery within the fire department was part of his inspiration to partner with Rainbow Connection.
Rainbow Connection is a local nonprofit which grants wishes to help children with serious medical conditions and their families. Last year, Our Dancing Lights raised around $19,000. This year, he has raised around $7,000 for the organization.
Waldrep expressed that he sees around 100 cars on weeknights and about 100 cars an hour on the weekends.
Light shows will go until New Year’s. Hours are Sunday – Thursday from 5pm – 10pm, and Friday – Saturday from 5pm – 11pm.
