Every year, for our annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration, we choose a quote from Dr. King to center our efforts around. This year, our quote is “Everybody can be great because anybody can serve.” Service and volunteerism are so versatile and can be done in so many different and equally impactful ways.
At our celebration of Dr. King, we conclude our program by participating in Operation: Cover Me, in which the attendees come together to make fleece blankets to then be donated to Grace Centers of Hope homeless shelter. This program brings a community of otherwise strangers together, to work toward a common goal of helping others. What could be more fitting to celebrate Dr. King?
We are looking for donations of fleece in the amount of 1.5-yard pieces for the blankets that will be used in Operation: Cover Me. Donations can be dropped off to the Auburn Hills Community Center located at 1827 N. Squirrel Road, on or before January 19th, 2019 for our event on January 21st.
