Educational Milestones

There is a lot of hidden talent at DPW. As I have gotten to know people, I keep learning about all the amazing skills and background people have here. Every time an unusual project comes up, there is always a discussion about who has the skills and experience most relevant to the situation at hand. Whether it be concrete or carpenter work, the list goes on. People here come from all walks of life and we are lucky they bring with them such an amazing set of talents.

The skills people bring here don’t end when we hire them. DPW employees are continuously pursuing additional skills and training. Today, I had two employees stop by my office with news about their educational goals. One of them just finished his first year as an electrician apprentice. As I was looking over his paperwork, I was impressed with the amount of hard work that goes into an electrician apprenticeship program. The other employee has decided to pursue training as a professional Arborist. Both the electrician apprenticeship and the Arborist programs are multi-years in length and involve a combination of classroom, bookwork, and field experience.

It’s nice to see people setting goals and working to achieve them. The more skills our team has the better we can provide exceptional service to our community.
