On Monday, August 26, 2019, the City Council approved plans from Michigan State University Federal Credit Union (MSUFCU) to construct a three-story, 50,519 square foot building on a 3.73-acre site located south of University Drive, east of Cross Creek Parkway. The total investment is estimated at $16 million.

Founded in 1937, MSUFCU is owned and operated by members of the Michigan State University and Oakland University communities. The credit union offers financial services to faculty, staff, students, alumni association members, and their families as well as a variety of select employee groups. MSUFCU is touted as the largest university-based credit union in the world.
This new facility will be a regional office for the East Lansing based credit union and will serve their Oakland University and southeast Michigan members. The credit union will relocate operations from their existing facility at 3265 Five Points Drive to this new facility. The new facility will also house support services such as a call center, IT help desk functions, and human resources. In addition, it will include a designated student intern center, a community meeting room, and four guest suites designed for overnight stay available to credit union executives and employees attending evening events at Oakland University and throughout the Metro Detroit area.

Construction is anticipated to begin in March 2020 with completion by June 2021.
