NEW HAWK WOODS LODGE CONSTRUCTION UNDERWAY

A jewel of the Auburn Hills park system is Hawk Woods Nature Center on Bald Mountain Road, south of Dutton Road.

At their last meeting, City Council approved the construction of a new Lodge to replace the existing one which after decades, has finally deteriorated to the point of no longer being a safe structure.  It was closed to the public earlier this year.

Site work has begun and the contractor who was awarded the project expects to begin pouring footings and foundations in the next couple of weeks, followed by the framing of the Lodge itself.  The plan is to have the Lodge enclosed by the end of the year and to complete the interior during the winter months with a grand opening of the new building by May, 2020.

The new lodge will be a multi-purpose building combining the functions of the old lodge and the former Nature Center into one facility. The new lodge will have a meeting room which can be used for outdoor educational programming, special events, family gatherings, corporate teambuilding or training.

The New Lodge will have the technology required for classroom-type presentations and meetings and has three small-group meeting rooms or classrooms.  The back patio will allow for an outdoor class or meeting experience surrounded by the sounds of nature.

We look forward to the many ways the new lodge will serve the needs of our community well into the future.
