For a number of years now, the Auburn Hills Morning Optimist Club has selected individuals that either serve as members of the city staff or serve the city in some other capacity such as a community volunteer. While the focus was traditionally on the public safety departments (police and fire), it was expanded a couple of years ago to include a civilian too. These individuals are nominated by their peers and recognized for their outstanding contributions to the city over the past year.
Last night at the regular City Council meeting, Morning Optimist Club members Mary Creager and John Higgins, co-chairs of the awards presentation, announced the 2019 winners and they were presented with their awards. They are:
Civilian Person of the Year
Donearl Johnson, Community Volunteer
Fire/EMS Person of the Year
Alan Lee, Firefighter
Police Person of the Year
Quentessa Tuff, Administrative Assistant/Chaplain

CONGRATULATIONS to all of the winners and “thank you” for all you do for the Auburn Hills community.
Tom Tanghe, City Manager
