To our residents, businesses, and visitors:
In order for us to be an active participant in the slowing down and eventual
discontinuation of the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), we have found it necessary to scale back our operations effective 5:00 p.m. on Monday, March 16, 2020.
Our City Hall, Community Center, and Department of Public Works will all be closed to the public for walk-in business. Payments may continue to be made using the drop-box on the front of City Hall next to the main entrance or online. If you leave a payment, we will mail a receipt to you if requested.
We ARE NOT abandoning you. As your City staff and as public servants, we understand that in the greatest time of need is when you need us most. Therefore, we will continue supporting our essential city services utilizing a minimal number of staff at City Hall, the Community Center, and at the Department of Public Works. You may not see much of us, but we will be here behind the scenes making certain that everything continues to be operational.
Police and Fire services continue 24/7 and we will remain fully staffed. If you believe that you may be experiencing the symptoms of the Coronavirus (Fever, Cough, Shortness of Breath), please call your physician or the Oakland County Health Division’s nurse-on-call at 800.848.5533/select Option 1 (8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.) or email email@example.com.
If you are advised to call 9-1-1, please be certain to inform the emergency dispatcher who answers the phone about your condition so that our personnel can take the necessary precautions upon arrival to your location. If you experience any other emergency, as always, please dial 9-1-1. We must do everything possible to protect our staff so that they can remain on the job and in service to you.
Additional Resources include:
• Beaumont Coronavirus/COVID-19 Hotline is 248.551.7000 (7 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. Monday – Friday and 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Saturday/Sunday)
• State of Michigan Public Health Hotline at 888.535.6136 (8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. seven days a week)
• United Way also maintains a hotline to help people access necessary resources during time of crisis. United Way Hotline 211 (open 24 hours a day)
At this time, closures are expected to continue until Monday morning, April 13 at 8:00 a.m. However, this too may change based on our observations that lead us to extend or shorten the closure, or directives from a higher government authority.
During the closure of City Hall, the Community Center, and the Department of Public Works, you may still contact us at our main building phone numbers during regular business hours (8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. / Monday – Friday). For City Hall, that number is 248.370.9400; for the Community Center/Senior Services, that number is 248.370.9353; and for the Department of Public Works, that number is 248.391.3777. The DPW can also be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org which is monitored regularly. And as previously mentioned, an after-hours emergency requires that you dial 9-1-1.
As a community, we are in this together. The Mayor, City Council, administration, and emergency services, as well as all other city departments, are in regular contact every day and we are fully prepared to take on the challenges associated with this issue. Most of all, stay calm. By doing the right things, you can reduce your risk of contracting the virus. These things include: regular hand-washing with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds, sanitizing touch points (frequently touched surfaces), keeping your hands from touching your face, coughing into your elbow, keeping your distance from others and avoiding any group situations, and refraining from going out unless it is absolutely necessary.
Again, we are here for you. BE PATIENT • BE KIND • BE UNITED • BE WELL
And most of all, TAKE CARE OF EACH OTHER.
