When we originally posted the closing of most of our office operations effective Monday, March 16, 2020 at 5:00 p.m., we had hoped that we would possibly re-open on Monday, April 13. Of course we know a lot more now about this pandemic than we did on March 16.
Today, the Michigan Legislature took the necessary action to continue the Governor’s State of Emergency Declaration through April 30. While we await further guidance from the Governor’s office, we expect to remain closed at City Hall, the Community Center, and the Department of Public Works through that date.
Our March 16 blog post herein provides more details and also provides essential phone numbers should you need to reach a City department in the meantime. Although we are closed for face-to-face transactions at our service counters, I couldn’t help but like the sign: Closed But Still AWESOME! This is because our staff continues to work in their office or from home, or out in the City on the front lines providing all of the essential services to support the community.
So yes, we are Closed; but our staff remains AWESOME as they continue to do the work that makes them great public servants.
We are hopeful that the virus spread will subside very soon and that this pandemic will be in our rear view mirror. In the meantime,
BE PATIENT • BE KIND ▪ BE UNITED • BE WELL
And most of all, TAKE CARE OF EACH OTHER.
