Winter Pruning

Winter’s here!

Looking for things to do? Tired of being locked down? Want to get outside?

Winter is a great time to prune trees and shrubs in your landscape. With the leaves all gone it’s easy to see into the trees. Sucker growth, crossing branches, dead branches are all things that can harm the health of your trees. This is also a great time to thin, shape or rejuvenate shrubs. Completing pruning projects now will allow you to enjoy your landscape more this summer.

MSU cooperative extension services is an awesome resource for pruning and plant info. So, make a hot cocoa, put together a plan and get outside and enjoy pruning your landscape this winter.

Happy pruning!
