Seeking an Experienced Lawn Mowing Contractor

For over 25 years the City of Auburn Hills has provided bi-weekly lawn mowing services to income eligible senior and disabled homeowners enrolled in the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Yard Services Program. Every year as required by the regulations we go out to bid to secure the most reasonable price. The last couple of years have been a struggle securing a reliable contractor and a reasonable quote.  This year is no different. We went out to bid and received one quote, unfortunately the quote was not reasonable in cost.

So we are going to try a couple of different ways to secure quotes, appeal to the masses so to speak, to help spread the word. Sometimes the best referrals are from those who surround you.

We are seeking an experienced (minimum 2 years’ experience) lawn mowing contractor to provide lawn mowing services to low income seniors and disabled homeowners who require assistance maintaining their yards. Yards include both mobile home lots and residential lots up to 1.5 acres.

Approximately 25-30 homeowners are enrolled in this bi-weekly lawn mowing program and are located throughout the city. Lawn mowing includes mowing of front and back yard and blowing off grass clipping from driveways and sidewalks.

Weather and drought dependent there will be 13 mowing sessions. Season typically begins in May and ends in October. Contractors must have workers comp insurance if they have employees, and liability insurance. Limits of insurance are included in the bid packet.

Bids are due to the City Clerk’s office by April 9, 2021 by 10:00 am for the Public Bid Opening.
