Earlier this week, Auburn Hills was honored to host the quarterly Oakland County Economic Developers gathering at our beautiful Hawk Woods lodge.

The theme of the discussion was site readiness and how it directly relates and supports attracting new companies and jobs to our market. We heard from experts in the field including the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC), the Detroit Regional Partnership (DRP) and from a local developer. They all provided insight and information about prioritizing sites, and what communities can do to better prepare themselves for attraction projects.
As Auburn Hills continues to foster a business-friendly climate, it’s critical for us to understand the competition and how to manage client expectations. Many of our projects have specific site requirements, so it’s important to understand details like zoning, history of the property, utility providers, etc. This assists us in better positioning ourselves for taking on a new project.

As an economic developer, I appreciate the network of resources available and our strategic partners who help provide assistance during the project process.
