On Tuesday, December 27, 2022, City Manager Tom Tanghe was elected to the board of directors of the Michigan Municipal Executives (MME), the professional association for city managers throughout Michigan. His term began last week when he attended his first board meeting in Grand Rapids and will end in 2026. MME works to provide members’ professional development, support their personal growth, and promote the municipal executive profession in Michigan. In service to its members and their communities, MME seeks to enhance management excellence, continuous improvement, and high ethical standards.
In addition to his new role with MME, Mr. Tanghe has also taken on chairmanship of the Oakland County City Managers Association, an appointment that began in September. The Oakland County group meets every other month from September through May and hosts its meetings at various communities around the county, showcasing businesses, technologies, municipal facilities, projects, and sharing best practices.
