Fresh Fruit & Vegetables Brighten a Day

Today, Friday March 27, we were able to send 60 grocery bags filled with fresh fruits, vegetables and bread to one of our Senior Housing apartments thanks to Neighborhood House, https://www.ranh.org/, our Food Cupboard Sponsor and a great group of volunteers from Auburn Hills Christian Church.

The Neighborhood House Director contacted me and said they had a surplus of fresh fruit and vegetables. She remembered I had told her I was worried about both our senior apartments and the seniors leaving their homes to get food.  Although our bus transportation is still running, on a limited basis, most of our riders are choosing to forgo grocery shopping and stay home.

When the next call comes from Neighborhood House, telling us they have a surplus of food for our seniors, we will be ready to get it, bag it up and deliver to our other senior housing apartment, which is a larger complex so we will need many hands when that call comes in.

Again, a big shout out and THANK YOU to Neighborhood House and Auburn Hills Christian Church and of course the city staff who helped sort and bag the food.

Karen Adcock, Director of Senior Services
