Palm Palace Restaurant To Be Bulldozed … Starbucks Planned

Posted by – Steve Cohen, Director of Community Development

An application has been submitted to the City of Auburn Hills to allow the demolition of the recently closed Palm Palace Restaurant and the redevelopment of the property with the construction of a new 12,206 sq. ft. retail shopping center.  The site is located at 2065 N. Squirrel Road.

The proposed development will include six retail tenant spaces.  A 2,201 sq. ft. Starbucks coffee shop, designed with an associated drive-thru, is anticipated to be the center’s anchor tenant and will be located in the southern unit situated near the corner of University Drive and N. Squirrel Road.

Those interested in learning more about this proposal are encouraged to attend the public hearing at the Planning Commission meeting scheduled for Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chamber at City Hall.  A final decision on the project is anticipated to be made by the City Council on Monday, February 22, 2016.

If the project moves forward as planned, the developer anticipates starting construction in Spring 2016.
