SOCK DRIVE 2020

Whether you are an individual, family, fraternity/sorority, church group, small business or corporation, here’s a GREAT way to start off the new year with a charitable endeavor that’s easy to organize and has a very positive impact.

The Auburn Hills Teen Council, in cooperation with the Teen Councils of Huntington Woods, Howell, Lansing, Wayne County, Farmington Hills, and Detroit, are collecting NEW socks, gloves, hats and scarves to help those in need of these items.  Okay, I said “in cooperation”, but let’s make this a little bit of a friendly competition.  HERE’S MY CHALLENGE TO YOU!

If you’re a business or other kind of organization, get out the word that you’re collecting these items.  Put out a box in your lobby and begin collecting. Do this until Friday, January 31 and then simply deliver the items you have collected to the Auburn Hills Community Center located at 1827 North Squirrel Road, southwest corner of University Drive and N. Squirrel Road, no later than 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 4.

And why would I do this, you ask?  Well, if collecting items to provide warmth isn’t enough, here’s what you will get in return if you are the company or organization that collects the greatest number of these items.   Our staff will create a billboard design with the winner’s name on it and during a one-week period in February, the winner of the 2020 Auburn Hills Sock Drive will have their name in lights.  That’s right, at least two or three billboards along I-75 will provide you with bragging rights 24/7 for an entire week.  That’s some pretty amazing recognition and you, along with the other 100,000 motorists that travel along I-75 through Auburn Hills each day, will see it.

Alright Auburn Hills – WE CAN DO THIS!  As for those other communities, let’s KNOCK THEIR SOCKS OFF!!!  Come on, you knew we were going to say that, didn’t you.

Have any questions, contact the Auburn Hills Community Center at 248.370.9353.

Let the collecting begin!
